Getting Started



This guide will help you get started and learn how to make the best use of your Buttons account.

Mobile & Tablet - Desktop

Use the Webmark Tool


The easiest way to create a new webmark is by using the Webmark tool. Tap on Settings from the navigation menu (which is the Buttons logo located in the top right corner of your screen). Follow the instructions to start using this feature. Once this is set up, you can tap on the "Webmark" bookmark to instantly add the website you are viewing to your Buttons account.

Create a webmark


  1. Tap on the Buttons logo to open the navigation menu.
  2. Tap on "New webmark".
  3. Type or paste the URL. On the default account settings the name and description will load automatically, but you can choose to change them and type your own.
  4. Adding a note will help you remember why the webmark was added and could be especially useful if you look for it in the future, or if you are sharing the webmark with others.
  5. Premium users can assign one or more tags to their webmarks. This will significantly improve the search results. Simply type the name of the tag/s you want to assign in the Tags field.
  6. You can create a new group to which the webmark will be added, choose an existing group from the drop-down list, or leave the group field empty. If no group is assigned, the webmark will be added to the More webmarks group.
  7. You can create a new button, choose an existing button from the drop-down list, or leave the button field empty if you do not wish to assign the webmark to a specific button.

Create a button


  1. Tap on the Buttons logo to open the navigation menu
  2. Tap on "New button"
  3. Write the button name and tap on "Create button"

Add a new webmark to a button


  1. Open the button
  2. Tap on the webmark space with a "+"
  3. Follow the steps outlined in Create a webmark

Add an existing webmark to a button


  1. Go to your Webmarks from the navigation menu
  2. Tap on the webmark you want to add
  3. Tap on "Edit"
  4. Choose the button you want to assign the webmark to from the drop-down list and tap on "Save"

Add a button to your favourites


  1. Open the button you want to add to your favourites
  2. Tap on the "heart" icon
  3. To remove from your favourites, simply tap on the "heart" icon again to deselect

Share a button


By sharing a button you will be able to collaborate with other Buttons users on the webmarks available in the shared button. All users will be able to rename the button, add new webmarks, and edit or delete existing ones.

When someone accepts a shared button it will be added to their buttons and will be accessible from their Buttons home page or the Sharing section.

You can share an existing button or create a new shared button.

To share an existing button you can go to the "Sharing" section from the navigation menu. Tap on "New shared button", choose a button from the drop-down list or enter the name of a new button and tap on next. Enter the email addresses of the users with who you want to share the button. You can also leave a message to give more details about the shared button. Tap on "Share" to send the invitation. The other users will receive an invitation by email. Once the invitation is accepted, you can start collaborating. The status of an invitation (pending/active) can be viewed from the Sharing section.

From your account settings, you can choose whether to receive live email updates when someone makes changes to a shared button.

Only Premium users can share their buttons with multiple users.


You can share the contents of a button with anyone, even those who do not have a Buttons account, by creating a link to that button. You can also use this feature if you want to send a button to others without giving them permission to make any changes.

Create a link


To create a link, go to the Links section from the navigation menu and tap on "Create new link".

Choose a button from the drop-down menu and you can add a comment to describe the shared button. Tap on "Create".

A link to the button will generated automatically. You can copy the link and send it through your favourite email app, chat or social media or you can send it directly through your Buttons account by inserting the email addresses and adding an optional comment to the recipients of the email.

You can manage or resend a link from the Links section.

Edit a button


You can delete or rename a button or remove webmarks from a button by tapping on the "edit" icon from within that specific button.

To delete the button simply tap on the "delete" icon. You will be requested to confirm your selection before permanently deleting the button.

By deleting a button you will not delete the webmarks it contains. These will still be available in your webmarks section.

To rename a button, type a new name and press the "save" icon.

When in edit mode you can remove any webmark from the button by pressing on "Remove webmark" next to the webmark.

To exit from the edit mode, tap on the "edit" icon again.

Edit a webmark


To edit a webmark simply tap on the webmark from the Webmarks section and choose "Edit". All the fields can be edited. You can save or cancel the changes, or delete the webmark.

Create a new webmark group


You can create groups to organise your webmarks and access them more easily. This can be created when adding a new webmark by tapping on the "+" next to "Choose group" and entering a new group name. You can also add a new group by writing the "New group name" at the very bottom of your webmarks section, and tapping on "Add group".

Invite new users


You can get a free Premium upgrade by inviting anyone to Buttons.

Go to your account settings and tap on manage invites. Insert the email address of the person you would like to invite and send the invitation. You can also follow the progress of the invitations you have sent. Once 5 new users have successfully accepted your invitation, you will receive an email containing a coupon code which can be used to upgrade to a Premium account for free.

Invitations are only valid for new users.

Desktop - Mobile & Tablet

Install our Google Chrome extension


If you use the Chrome browser on you Mac or PC you can install our extension to instantly add any website you are visting to your Buttons account without leaving the page. To install the extension, click on your account name in the top right corner and choose "Settings - Tools". Click on "Install extension" to go to the extension page on the Chrome web store. Once this is installed, you can click on the Buttons logo on the top right corner of your Chrome browser to instantly add the website you are viewing to your webmarks.

Use the Webmark Tool


The easiest way to create a new webmark is by using the Webmark tool. Click on your account name in the top right corner and click on "Settings - Tools". Follow the instructions to start using this feature. Once this is set up, you can click on the "Webmark" bookmark to instantly add the website you are viewing to your Buttons account.

Import your browser bookmarks


Premium users can import their browser bookmarks to their Buttons account using the Import tool. This can only be accessed from your desktop browser as it requires you to create and upload an html file containing your current browser bookmarks.

To use the Import tool, click on your account name in the top right corner, choose "Settings - Tools" and click on "Import bookmarks".
